Arwal town is the administrative centre of district Arwal in Bihar state in India. He was earlier part of Jehanabad district. District formed to control naxalism in the area. The district was formed from the area of two adjacent areas, i.e., Jehanabad and Aurangabad. Arwal population 588.000. Arwal, the district headquarters is located approximately 80 km South of the state capital Patna. Arwal town is situated on the right side of the Bank, the son river which is a tributary of the Ganges river.

Arwal is situated at 25.25°n 84.68°e / 25.25, 84.68. It has an average elevation of 67 metres, 220 feet. District headquarters in Arwal near the saône river. The state capital of Patna is situated in 65 km to the North.
