Examples range from highly stylised, even avant-garde, literary adaptation, using historical themes, for example, Jan Nemecs diamonds of the night to semi-improvised comedies with contemporary subjects and Amateur actors, for example Milos Forman in the next ball. However, a frequent feature of films of this period were their absurd, black humour and interest in the problems of ordinary people, especially when faced with larger historical or political changes. Cinematic was influenced by Italian neorealism and the French New wave can be seen in some Czech new wave films. After the invasion of the Warsaw Pact in Czechoslovakia, the New wave slowly faded. Many Directors were dismissed from the state film studios. Others chose emigration. Some of the movies that were important to the Communist regime were banned.
