★ Parallax: And Selected Poems

Parallax is the fifth collection of poems by Irish poet Sinead Morrissey. First published in 2013, on a press-necklace, a collection of poems focus on the premise of the appearance and position of the object changes with the position of the observer. In 2015, becoming the fourth finalist poem written by Morrissey, he won the T. S. Eliot.

1. Themes and ideas. (Темы и идеи)

Theme with parallax is parallax. "Parallax" is, by definition, means "the apparent displacement or difference in apparent direction of the object as seen from two different points not on a straight line with the object". The collection focuses on the change of position of an object change the actual viewpoint of the observer.

2. The concept. (Концепция)

Morrissey States in one of his interviews, what inspired the idea and creation of the poems were pictures she can find in books and on the Internet. In particular, images from slums in Belfast took a picture of the photographer Edward Alexander Robert Hogg. After creating poetry, she had already decided on the name after discussing the photographic term "parallax" with his counterpart in Queens, this term refers to the difference of what the photographer sees in the viewfinder, and that comes through the hole.

3. Welcome

Parallax has received positive reviews from most sources. British poet Ian Duhig, chair of final jury award T. S. Eliot, praised the collection as "politically, historically and personally ambitious, expressed in beautifully turned language".

Fran Brearton, review of the collection for the guardian, praises the collection as "a deft exploration of the artificiality of art in framing and containing its subject." She commented on Morrisseys write, say there is more to the poems than what is presented on the surface with her "the clear style and clean lines" that each poem gives more than it seems at first glance, fitting the theme of the collection.
