★ Raymundo Albano
Raimundo ray Albano was a Filipino curator, art critic, writer, poet, artist and scholar who served as Director of the Museum of the cultural center of the Philippines from 1970 until his death in 1985.
1. Biography. (Биография)
Raimundo Albano was born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, on January 27, 1947. He attended the Ateneo de Manila, graduating with a bachelors degree in 1968 with honors, receiving the John Mulry award for outstanding literary achievement. Soon after, he had his first solo exhibition at the joy T. press gallery. Dayrit. After that, he exhibited at the Luz Gallery, ABC Galleries and Sin Kamalig. He was named among the winners of the first thirteen artists award by the cultural center of the Philippines in 1970. In 1974, he received an honorable mention at the Tokyo Biennale of international prints. In 1977, Albano received an artist-in-residence grant from the Fulbright-Hayes Foundation international exchange of scholars at the University of the Pacific, Stockton, California, USA.
2. Paintings. (Картины)
The works of Raimundo Albanos are often attributed to the predecessors of conceptual art in the Philippines, along with those of his contemporary Roberto Shabet. His paintings are mostly abstractions involving found objects. Several exhibits are in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Manila, the cultural center of the Philippines, the Singapore art Museum and the National Museum of fine arts of the Philippines, in addition to prestigious private collections.

Albano has curated several exhibitions showcasing art from the Philippines, such as the Philippine collection for the Asian art festival held at the Fukuoka Art Museum, Japan, and an exhibition of Filipino landscapes in Beijing, China. Albano succeeded Roberto Shabet as Director of the Museum of the cultural center of the Philippine CPC in 1970. He presented an exhibition of multimedia works during his time at the CPC, and also personally designed several exhibition posters. He is a founding partner of Finale Art File, one of the oldest contemporary art galleries in Manila.

Ray Albano began writing poetry in the 1950s as a senior at San Sebastian College, where he wrote for the school newspaper. At the Ateneo, he wrote poetry for heights, the Universitys literary magazine. According to curator and scholar Patrick D. Flores, Albano is considered a member of the League of Philippine modernists of Aurelio Alvero, Hernando R. Ocampo and David Medalla. The poet Emmanuel S. Torres wrote about the poetic style of Raimundo R. Albanos as both abstract and picturesque - not as a pose, but as a cursory statement of fully achieved sensitivity."
5. Recognition. (Распознавание)
Ray Albano is currently the subject of a number of exhibitions dedicated to his influential role as a pioneering artist-curator in the Philippines. It was presented in a retrospective exhibition at the Vargas Museum in 2017 and in a special exhibition at the art fair of the Philippines in 2019.
6. Illness and death. (Болезнь и смерть)
Ray Albano suffered from frequent asthma attacks and scoliosis for most of his life and had to walk with a limp. His unusual posture earned him the nickname "Quasimodo of the cultural center," which he derisively called himself. He died in 1985 at the age of 38.
